where the 787 dreamliner is turning into a bit of a night may for boeing as the airplanes are under investigation after back-to-back days of problems in boston. yesterday one of the jets spilled about 40 gallons of fuel on the runway at logan international airport. that's one day after an electrical fire caused by an exploding battery grounded a different dreamliner plane, also at logan airport. for more on boeing's troubles, let's go to jeff cutmoore in london. >> reporter: good morning to you. i suppose the good news here is ana has orders for 45 more jets, and they said we will to the change our orders. clearly this is a headache for boeing, because they have been beset by a slew of problems with the technicals on this wide-bodied jet. there are a whole bunch of other companies lined up here to take them, virgin airways, british airways, they will want to see some of these technical problems sorted out before they get delivery. worth pointing out the stock down over 4% over the last couple of trading days as a result of these concerns. >> we wonder if there will be cancellations

22nd. >>> now to aviation for the second night in a row there's trouble to report with one of boeing's new 787 dreamliners. the aircraft a whole lot of people had hailed as the future of american aviation, yesterday it was a fire, today a mishap moments before takeoff, for a planeload of passengers. tom costello covers aviation for us, he's with us from san diego tonight. tom, good evening. >> reporter: hi, brian. this actually occurred in boston today, japan airlines 787, japan airlines yesterday as well, but today they were just about to depart fully loaded with passengers when they developed some sort of a fuel leak and they lost 40 gallons right there on the ramp. they went back to the gate, fixed the problem, the plane did, in fact, leave for tokyo but we can tell you that this follows yesterday's incident also involving a japan airlines 787, that was a belly, the fire in the belly of the plane, i should say. investigators now think that's tied to an auxiliary power unit, a battery pack and there have been other emergency landings and problems with electrical systems over the la

a rough week for boeing's newest jet. today a 787 dreamliner flight is canceled for an error message about the plane's brakes. on monday, a japanese airline, a 787, caught fire at boston's logan airport. the fire started in the battery compartment. no one was on board. and then on tuesday, another japanese airliner 787 was canceled, this time because of a fuel leak. >> hey, that japan air may know it, but they've got fuel or something spilling out the outboard left wing there quite a bit. >> sandra endo joins us now from washington. tell us more about these incidents. they're now under investigation, right? >> well, carol, the string of irregularities for boeing's marquee plane, the 787 dreamliner, is certainly a concern for the manufacturer. the plane is the first commercial airliner to be made mostly of carbon composites, or plastic, which means it's a lighter plane that boeing says uses less fuel than conventional airliners. well, boeing says it is working with ntsb investigators, looking into monday's fire on a japan airlines 787 at boston's logan airport. the fire involved the batteri

on a boeing dreamliner at logan international airport in boston, right after passengers got off that jet. the japan airlines 787 was parked at the gate. no one was injured. but the fire was the latest in a string of incidents for the high-tech new jetliner. abc's jim avila is in washington with the latest. jim, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, amy. few things are as frightening as smoke on an airplane. but fortunately, in this case, the only real damage was done to the reputation of boeing's new dreamliner airplane. firefighters at boston's logan field, dousing smoke on the plane of the future, boeing's 787 dreamliner. a plane made mostly of carbon fiber, a fancy name for plastic, just a half-hour after an incident-free landing. >> passengers were deplaned normally through the jet bridge process. >> reporter: but minutes later, a mechanic working in the cockpit of the jal jet was confronted by smoke from the electrical system in the belly of the plane. >> we observed a heavy smoke condition in the entire cabin. >> reporter: this is the latest nightmarish incident for the dreamlin
